An Apple Day Along The Pilgrim’s Way?

Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away…

Perhaps, it is a bit hackneyed, so to initiate a blog post about an Apple day of hiking.

Because his potential is but misjudges the Apple deserves even special attention. After all, he has quite a few years under their belt. The humanity he known since approximately 8000 BCis as nomads brought the first examples of present-day Kazakhstan. It should take then approx. 3000 years eve fruit of temptation thanks to the Romans reached our abode.

In contrast to pineapple and co., the fruit with the Latin-sounding name m must make a trip around the world, to delight our palates and our vitamin Depot.

This and I learned more about the fruit from my childhood in the “Apple day” in the hinterland of Friedrichshafen. On the parent’s farm there was above all the brand golden delicious, which I while in such quantities that I can probably eat any more in this life.

The Darlings Of The Germans

The favourite flavour of the Germans is by the way the Elstar, followed by my “childhood sweetheart”, the golden delicious. This was the way of St. James pilgrims who on the way encountered me, probably don’t care. They were just happy about a refreshing burst of energy. It was actually unaware that the Jakobsweg leads so close at my home over me until yesterday:

Even if there’s no Apple hiking you in the region maybe, so the dress question is Yes definitely for other outdoor action again.

At first I thought about me, what’s important to me. And as the comfort is paramount. The easiest would of course choose an outdoor-sports outfit. But an Apple day yes no half marathon. Means: I want to see already also a bit chic. I’ve chosen these pants by Samoon:

The 3% elastane share guarantees that the pants makes with every movement. Since tone in tone outfits have a generally decontracting effect, I have this shirt by Anna aura to selected:

With its mixture of viscose and spandex, it combines chic with comfort. Because it is a long shirt, plays it crisp thighs and stretches in addition visually.

Because it can be very warm, but also cool in September, I ordered me this beautiful Cardigan from Inkadoro:

A wise choice, as it turned out then. Because the weather was very mixed and I could snuggle up me in my knitting jacket made of pure alpaca, without freezing.

Fresh from the oven

Back at home, I have me just go in the kitchen and baked my first Apple Pie of season and congratulate not only myself:

Apple tarts:

            For the dough:

300 g flour

200 g butter

175 g sugar

1 EI(er)

1 Zitrone(n), grated peel of

          For the filling:

1 kg apples, sour

1 Zitrone(n), the juice of which

50 g raisins

50 g sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

          For the topping:

2 EI(er)

3 Tablespoons milk

1 TBSP sugar

1 TBSP custard powder, vanilla

Preparation:

Work time: 30 min rest period: approx. 2 h / difficulty: normal / calories p. P.: unspecified

Produce a shortcrust dough from the ingredients for the dough and the dough covered for 2 hours in the refrigerator let it rest.

Peel the apples, quarter, free from the core, cut into thin slices and mix with the lemon juice, the sugar and the cinnamon.

Roll out the dough and line the floor and the edge of a greased springform pan so. Retain some dough for the mesh and cut into narrow strips. Pierce the bottom of the dough with a fork several times. Distribute the apples on it.

Pour the eggs with the milk, which mix the sugar and custard powder and about the apples for the cast. Gitterartig place the dough Strip over the apples (instead of the grid you can cut out various shapes and thus decorate the cake).

About 50-60 minutes in an oven preheated to 200 degrees bake the cake.

The Apple-he is not only our palate, but is also a “symbol of love, fertility and beauty”. He is full of dietary fiber (pectin), should work well against high blood pressure and cholesterol and is a veritable vitamin bomb. So well, the old saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”…

And which is your favorite? Do you know a great recipe that you would tell me?
